Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED.
• Experience: One year of experience or training in a secretarial role or currently enrolled in an accredited nursing school or medical professional healthcare program.
• Knowledge: English speaking, basic organizational and reception skills.
• Special Training: Medical terminology and transcription skills.

Responsibilities

• Transcribes physicians' orders accurately and in a timely manner.
• Creates, maintains, and terminates patient charts and related documents.
• Maintains patient census, status boards, logs, and databases.
• Schedules diagnostic tests and lab work; answers call bells and pages staff.
• Assists in moving patients, transfers, and discharges; coordinates with transport.
• Provides information to patients and families while protecting confidentiality.
