Job summary

Adventist Health Simi Valley is seeking a Part-time Technician to assist the RN and physician with patient assessments, examinations and treatments. The role involves vital sign documentation, bedside care and observations under RN supervision.

Responsibilities include maintaining readiness of equipment and supplies, prioritizing patient needs, and providing education to patients and families. The position is in the Emergency Department with a 12-hour shift, located in Simi Valley, CA.

Qualifications

• High School education/GED or equivalent required.
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS certification required.
• EMT certification preferred.

Job Summary

Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

• High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred

Licenses/Certifications

• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
• Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
• Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred

Facility Specific License/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required

Department Specific License/Certifications

• Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or Techniques for Effective Aggression Management (TEAM) or TEAM-A: Required

Essential Functions

• Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
• Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
• Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
• Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
• Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
