Job summary

Adventist Health Mendocino County in Fort Bragg, CA, is seeking a Technician to assist the RN and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments during the night shift in the Emergency Department.

The role performs essential unit secretary duties, maintains supplies, documents patient care, and supports clinical teams under RN supervision. Must have HS/GED; a technical degree is preferred, CPR/BLS is required, and EMT/CNA/CMA/Paramedic certifications are encouraged.

Qualifications

  • High School Education or GED is required.
  • Associate’s/Technical degree preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • EMT, CNA, CMA or Paramedic certifications are preferred.
  • Phlebotomist license is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments.
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Maintains equipment and supplies, assists in cost containment.
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, reports changes in condition to RN/MD.
  • Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Assists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Performs a variety of technical and patient care duties under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.

Job Requirements

Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Education/GED or equivalent: Required
  • Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification: Preferred
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA) or Paramedic certification: Preferred
  • Phlebotomist Technician license: Preferred
Facility Specific License/Certifications
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from approved vendor per AH policy: Required
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA) or National Emergency Medical Tech (NEMT): Required
Essential Functions
  • Assists the Registered (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations.
  • Maintains state of readiness by maintaining equipment/supplies appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conserving of supplies and equipment.
  • Prioritizes patient care and department needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents and reports patient condition and changes in condition to the RN, MD/Provider.
  • Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
  • Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care and observations. Records and collects specimens.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
