Job summary

Albany Med Emergency Department seeks an ED Technician to support resuscitation, venipuncture, and patient care under supervision. The role involves assisting physicians and nurses, transporting patients, and documenting vital signs and procedures.

The position requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and 6 months to 1 year of ED technician or EMS experience. Strong communication with patients, families, and staff is essential, with adherence to HIPAA and professional standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year ED Technician or EMS experience desirable.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively with patients, family, staff.

Responsibilities

• Assists with resuscitation / CPR and emergency airway procedures.
• Performs venipuncture to obtain blood specimens.
• Assists physicians and nurses providing technical support for patient care.
• Reports on the condition of the patient to the appropriate supervisor/staff member.
• Assists with the transport of patients to other departments.
• Assists with obtaining and documentation of vital signs, cardiac monitoring, and non-invasive blood pressure monitoring systems.
• Obtains 12-lead EKGs, discontinues peripheral IV and heparin/saline locks.
• Assist with wound care, insertion of Foley catheters, and nasogastric tubes.
• Assists with positioning patients, application of orthopedic splints and dressings.
• Measure and fit crutches and canes and instruct patients on proper use.
