Job summary

Bon Secours Mercy Health in Richmond is seeking an Emergency Department Technician to provide direct patient care under the guidance of a registered nurse or designated healthcare professional. The role involves vital sign measurement, personal care, mobility assistance, lab draws, ECGs, wound care, and ensuring patient comfort in a busy ED.

The ED Tech will document accurately, communicate changes to the care team, and participate in handoffs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire, must obtain prior to direct patient care).
• Current certification for EMR/EMT/Medical Assisting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provides basic patient care and tasks including care and comfort, vital signs, hygiene, mobility assistance, lab draws, ECGs, wound care under RN guidance.
• Completes patient rounding and 1:1 safety companion as needed.
• Maintains accurate documentation and participates in handoffs with the care team.
• Performs delegated tasks after competency validation and collects data per scope.
• Promotes quality and safety and assists with process improvements.
