Job summary

Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield, Virginia is hiring an Emergency Technician to support physicians and nurses in the ED. You will assist with invasive and non-invasive procedures, monitor patient status, and help with data collection and documentation.

Required: High school diploma or GED, EMT training (preferred), 1 year EMT experience (PRN), and EMT certification upon hire, plus CPR/BLS. ACLS/PALS within 180 days are expected.

Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.What you will doDemonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
