Job summary

Riverside Health System in Williamsburg seeks an Emergency Technician to support the ED team under supervision of the RN and ED physician. You will assist with EKGs, IVs, phlebotomy and other procedures, while ensuring patient data is accurately documented and communicated using SBAR.

Ideal candidates have EMT/Paramedic training, CPR/BLS certification, and willingness to obtain ACLS/PALS within 180 days. Experience in emergency settings is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• EMT-Paramedic training preferred; EMT certification required (EMT-B does not qualify).
• 1 year Emergency Technician experience preferred.
• CPR/BLS required; ACLS and PALS required within 180 days of starting.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and RNs in the ED with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
• Performs EKGs, IVs, and phlebotomy; monitors patient status.
• Completes clinical documentation per RHS standards; uses SBAR to communicate changes.
• Demonstrates flexibility to support patient throughput and urgent needs.
• Also fills in as monitor technician as needed and supports cost containment.

Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.What you will doDemonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
