Job summary

Riverside Smithfield Hospital in Smithfield, Virginia is seeking an Emergency Technician to support physicians and RNs in the ED. You will perform invasive and non-invasive procedures, monitor patients, draw blood, perform EKGs, and assist with data collection.

You must have a High School Diploma or GED, EMT training or Paramedic, and CPR/BLS; certification required upon hire; ACLS/PALS within 180 days. PRN experience preferred.

Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.What you will doDemonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served. ( i.e. surgical, med surg, critical care, ED, specialty unit).Recognizes and responds to variances of patient care/ condition and appropriately notifies physician and team, utilizing SBAR process when applicable.Accurately completes all required clinical documentation consistently per RHS standards.Demonstrate flexibility and sense of urgency to facilitate patient throughput throughout the facility.
