Job summary

Doctors Hospital of Williamsburg seeks an Emergency Technician to assist physicians and registered nurses in delivering patient care in a fast-paced ED. The role includes performing EKGs, IV insertions, and phlebotomy, while ensuring accurate documentation and patient safety.

You will occasionally serve as monitor tech, support throughput, and coordinate with a multidisciplinary team to meet patient needs across age groups.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• EMT NR Advanced/Intermed or Paramedic certification is required per job ad.
• CPR/BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required to start and within specified timelines.

Responsibilities

• Assists physicians and RNs in delivering patient care, including invasive and non-invasive procedures (EKG, IVs, phlebotomy).
• Demonstrates assessment and critical-thinking skills to respond to changes in patient condition.
• Completes clinical documentation per RHS standards; maintains patient safety and regulatory compliance.
• Fills in as monitor tech as needed to support department operations and patient throughput.
• Communicates effectively with team using SBAR as applicable to patient handoffs and care coordination.

Williamsburg, VirginiaHiring Range$18.90 - $24.60/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.*Please pay close attention to qualification for this role*OverviewWorks under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, Charge Nurse, and the medical direction of the Emergency Department Physician. Responsible for providing assistance to physicians and RN in the delivery of patient care to include invasive and non-invasive procedures: EKG's, IVs, phlebotomy. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to age of the patient served in assigned department. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span. Collects data reflective of the patient's status and assist with the interpretation of appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age specific needs as described in the departmental policy and procedural guide. Emergency Technician will fill in as the monitor tech as needed.What you will doDemonstrates assessment ability by applying standards of practice as it relates to the specialty or patient population served.
