Job summary

Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, VA, is seeking nursing assistant-level staff to support patient care under RN supervision. Responsibilities include vital signs, EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, and accurate EMR documentation.

The role requires CNA/EMT-B or related certification, BLS, and a commitment to patient safety. The position is pediatric and adult patient care oriented within a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred as noted
• CNA/EMT-B/MA related certifications upon hire are required
• Experience in hospital setting preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Enter patient data into the EMR system and document care.
• Perform treatments and procedures under RN direction (vital signs, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection).
• Maintain availability of equipment, supplies, and a clean, safe environment.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, or transfers as directed by the charge nurse.
• Complete all required clinical and quality documentation per RHS standards.
• Demonstrate accountability for equipment and supply management.

Newport News, VirginiaHiring Range$16.80 - $21.83/Hourly Actual pay is determined based on job-related factors such as relevant experience, education, credentials, skills, internal equity, and business needs.OverviewWorks under the supervision of Registered Nurse, Nurse Manager/Director in personal care of the patients and their environment (including those needing special precautions) and performs specified functions in tasks where there is validated competency including: simple wound care (i.e. cleaning of abrasions/laceration), EKGs, peripheral INT removal, basic phlebotomy, and extremity splinting. In addition, this position must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served in assigned unit. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and provide the care needed as described according to the departmental policy and procedure. Promotes and maintains safe work environment for staff as well as our customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.What you will doDemonstrates understanding and knowledge of the technology systems necessary for patient data collection into EMR.Demonstrates the ability to follow plan of care to include performing treatments and procedures competently/independently under direction of RN. This may include the following procedures dependent upon unit/facility competency requirements vital signs, ice application, compresses, EKGs, drawing blood, specimen collection, etc.Accurately completes all required clinical and quality documentation consistently per RHS standards and regulatory requirements.Demonstrates accountability for ensuring availability of resources (equipment, instruments, supplies) necessary to ensure positive patient outcomes.
