Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking an Emergency Department Registered Nurse to provide direct care to Veterans in the ED setting, including triage, treatment initiation, and outcome evaluation.

This role requires an active RN license, ACEN/CCNE-accredited education, and ongoing ACLS certification. Qualified applicants may be considered for relocation/recruitment incentives and will work in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment focused on high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

• English proficiency required for direct patient care.
• Graduate of ACEN/CCNE-accredited nursing program.
• Current, full, active, and unrestricted RN license in a US state.
• Eligibility for bridge program nursing pathway if pursuing BSN/advanced degree.
• Foreign-educated nurses require degree eval and licensure validation.
• GNT exception allows a 120-day temp appointment while pursuing licensure.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct ED care to Veterans, including triage, treatment initiation, and outcome evaluation.
• Assess patients, plan and deliver care, and evaluate treatment effectiveness.
• Operate emergency equipment such as defibrillator, ECG, IV pumps, and airway devices.
• Collaborate with physicians, families, and care teams; document care accurately.
• Maintain ACLS certification and participate in facility code/urgent response teams.
