Job summary

Cincinnati Children's is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for the Burnet Campus in the Phlebotomy Messenger Center. Evening shift, 3:00pm–11:30pm, full-time schedule (40 hours per week) with 1.0 FTE. Starting pay range: $18.16–$22.25 per hour, based on experience and skills.

Additional pay may apply for on-call/differentials. Benefits may apply. Responsibilities include specimen collection, point-of-care testing, patient education, and collaboration with care teams while maintaining compliance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of Phlebotomy or other clinical lab specimen collection experience OR completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program.
  • Preferred: Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

  • Technical/Phlebotomy: Perform approved specimen collection procedures, point‑of‑care testing services, and processing. Provide education and support to patients and families regarding tests and specimen acquisition. Assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research.
  • Customer Service: Act as patient advocate and meet patient/family needs. Provide information concerning patients admitted to, referred to/from, transferred to/from, or discharged from home unit. Provide emotional support as needed. Communicate courteously and conscientiously. Promptly attend to requests and concerns.
  • Collaboration: Work cooperatively with others to achieve goals. Adjust style to complement others. Develop positive working relationships, interact respectfully and professionally. Share knowledge and support team members. Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Professional Development: Maintain currency in the field through continuing education, conferences, meetings, in‑services, networking, literature, and seminars. Attend mandatory CCHMC training sessions. Apply knowledge and skills at work. Participate in professional committees, agencies, councils, or activities.
  • Compliance: Understand and comply with applicable policies, guidelines, regulations, and accreditation standards. Document compliance. Maintain compliance with CCHMC Core Standards and code of ethics. Ensure work areas are organized, safe, and efficient.
