Job summary

Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Phlebotomy Technician for on-site evening shifts in the Burnet Campus Laboratory Support Services. The role includes specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and patient/family education as part of a collaborative clinical team.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of phlebotomy or related experience, with certification preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2+ years of Phlebotomy or related clinical lab specimen collection experience OR completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program.
• Preferred: Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification.

Responsibilities

• Perform approved specimen collection procedures, point-of-care testing services and processing.
• Provide education/information and support to patients and families concerning tests and specimen acquisition.
• Assist in special projects, evaluations, experiments or research.
• Act as patient advocate and meet patient/family needs.
• Provide information concerning patients admitted to, referred to/from, transferred to/from, or discharged from home unit.
• Provide emotional support to patients/families as needed.
• Utilize a customer focus in completing assignments, communicate in a courteous and conscientious manner.

*Expected Starting Pay Range $18.16 - $22.25 *Starting pay is based on experience, skills, and equity; exceptions may apply for highly qualified candidates. Additional pay (e.g., shift, on–call, or weekend differentials) and benefits may apply. Annual pay may vary based on FTE status.

Job Responsibilities

• May be responsible for ensuring that work areas are organized and present a safe, accessible, effective, and/or efficient environment for employees, patients, and/or families.
• To primarily provide phlebotomy and and other lab sample collection in addition to other laboratory support functions in the Clinical Laboratory department of a Medical Center dedicated to the care of infants, children and adolescents.

Job Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years of Phlebotomy or other relevant Clinical Lab specimen collection experience OR completion of a Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant program
• Preferred: Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant certification
