Job summary

UPMC Hanover Hospital seeks an Emergency Department Patient Services Representative to assist with patient registration at the front desk and bedside. The role supports insurance verification, payment collection, and directing patients to financial advocacy resources.

You will reconcile the ED Tracking Board and ADT system, maintain data accuracy, and ensure privacy under HIPAA guidelines. Strong communication and calm composure under pressure are essential for the fast-paced ED environment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• 2 years' healthcare experience or 1 year in medical billing/fiscal setting or 6 months in a UPMC Patient Access position preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient registration at front desk and bedside.
• Reconcile and maintain First Net Emergency Department Tracking Board and Hospital ADT system.
• Confirm insurance eligibility and coordinate benefits to support a seamless billing process.
• Counsel patients regarding insurance coverage and expected financial liability; collect payments.
• Provide a warm greeting for all patients and uphold UPMC values and policies.
• Obtain patient demographic and insurance information; ensure HIPAA compliance.
