Job summary

Qualifications

• Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced hospital ED environment.
• Excellent time management and critical thinking skills.
• Completion of a paramedic program with clinical hours.

Responsibilities

• Assist medical and nursing staff with ED patient care.
• Greet patients and interview; input medical information into the system.
• Perform diagnostic tests and procedures (EKG, monitor, venipuncture, point-of-care tests, wound care, splints).
• Carry out tasks delegated by the RN (initiate IV, administer meds, glucose monitoring, ISTAT).
• Transport patients to the ICU and monitor critical patients.
• Assist with patient flow and ED operations.
• Perform education of patients and families; participate in trauma and STEMI alerts.
• Respond to Trauma Alert, Code Fast, STEMI Alerts.
• Ensure rooms are patient-ready; stock and clean rooms between patients.
