Job summary

Memorial Hermann is seeking an experienced registered nurse in Sugar Land, TX to join our patient-care team. You will provide professional nursing care, perform assessments, assist with examinations, educate patients, and maintain medical records while adhering to nursing standards and hospital policies.

You will collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team to deliver safe, effective care and coordinate discharge planning.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with Texas licensure.
• Basic Life Support certification required.
• RN levels reflect experience ranges from entry to expert in hospital settings.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team delivering patient care using the nursing process.
• Provide professional nursing care including assessments, exams, treatments, education, and charting.
• Deliver safe care per skills inventory and patient age/needs.
• Coordinate care planning with interdisciplinary team and make clinical decisions.
• Direct and delegate tasks to team to achieve positive outcomes.
• Coordinate discharge/transfer planning and ensure smooth transitions.
• Participate in evaluations, process improvements, and patient-centered outcomes.
• Address diverse patient needs and enhance patient experience.
• Adhere to Memorial Hermann policies to ensure patient, staff, and visitor safety.
• Support department goals and mentor less experienced staff; perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Collaborate with physicians and the healthcare team in delivering patient care using the nursing process
• Provide professional nursing care, including nursing assessments, assistance with examinations and treatment, patient education, and medical-record maintenance
• Deliver safe and appropriate care according to nursing skills inventory and patient age and needs
• Coordinate nursing-care planning with an interdisciplinary team and administer appropriate clinical decisions
• Collaborate with, direct, and delegate to the healthcare team to attain positive patient outcomes
• Coordinate treatment plans and develop/implement discharge or transfer plans
• Participate in interdisciplinary evaluation, process improvement, and client-centered outcomes
• Address diverse patient needs throughout the continuum of care and optimize the patient experience
• Ensure safe care for patients, staff, and visitors while adhering to Memorial Hermann policies and standards
• Promote professional growth through mandatory/continuing education and competency requirements
• Support department goals and may serve as a preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Professional Nursing
• Current State of Texas license or temporary/compact license to practice professional nursing
• Certified in Basic Life Support
• Additional certifications may be required based on discipline and/or nursing unit requirements
• RN I: less than 1 year of experience
• RN II: 1-3 years of experience
• RN III: 3-10 years of experience
• RN IV: 10+ years of experience
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Adherence to regulatory and Texas Board of Nursing standards
