Job summary

Wellstar Health Systems in Augusta is seeking an Emergency Department Nurse Extern to join a dedicated team in a high-energy ED. You will assist licensed nurses with patient care under supervision.

This role supports vital signs, basic nursing tasks, specimen collection, and coordination with pharmacy, pathology, and imaging to ensure safe, compassionate care. Completion of nursing fundamentals and active ADN/BSN enrollment are required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma General.
• All certifications (BLS) required on hire.
• Active enrollment in ADN/BSN program

Responsibilities

• Vital signs, AM/PM care, I&O measurement, dressing changes, and basic nursing tasks under supervision.
• Coordinate with pharmacy, pathology, and x-ray to ensure timely care and proper handoffs.
• Support the nurse preceptor and manage patient load while maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Respond to emergencies and communicate pertinent information to the nursing team.
