Job summary

Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA, is seeking an Emergency Department Clinical Nurse Educator to advance nursing practice, staff development, and patient safety through clinical education, competency development, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.

You will partner with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to strengthen clinical competency, support professional growth, and promote safe, high-quality care across the Emergency Department (ED).

Qualifications

• RN license in Washington State or equivalent.
• 5+ years clinical nursing experience in emergency nursing, critical care, or related field.
• 2+ years of clinical leadership in education, leadership, or quality improvement.
• Strong communication, facilitation, organizational, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to adapt scheduling to support staff education across shifts.

Responsibilities

• Assess staff learning needs and clinical practice gaps with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
• Develop, deliver, and evaluate onboarding, new graduate education, competency assessments, and ongoing staff development using diverse modalities.
• Advance evidence-based practice by updating policies, guidelines, and educational resources; support new technologies and standards.
• Identify patient safety and quality improvement opportunities using clinical data and performance metrics; collaborate on improvement initiatives.
• Evaluate educational effectiveness and sustain improvements in practice and outcomes.
