Job summary

The role requires a High School Diploma (Associates preferred), excellent communication, and ability to adapt curriculum and maintain positive relationships with staff. Immediate start; regular duties include planning, monitoring behavior, and assisting with personal needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associates degree or completion of two years’ college (60 semester hours) preferred.
• Previous experience as a program assistant preferred.
• Ability to work with students with diverse needs and to adjust materials for individual learning.

Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with supervising teacher and related staff to implement student programming.
• Assist in planning, preparing and implementing daily instructional plans addressing student needs.
• Demonstrate effective instructional behaviors.
• Monitor and respond to student behavior.
• Assist in evaluating and monitoring student progress.
• Assist students with personal needs (toileting, dressing, etc).
• Promote acceptance of individuals with disabilities in schools and community.
• Handle confidential student and parent information ethically.
• Follow school district policies when working in the building.
• Adhere to Van Buren ISD policies and procedures.
• Complete assigned responsibilities within established timelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the program supervisor.
