The Inter-American Development Bank is seeking an Economist Consultant to support the Fiscal Management Division in Latin America and the Caribbean. You will analyze fiscal rules, MTFFs, debt sustainability, and risks, contributing to policy dialogue and knowledge products to strengthen fiscal institutions.

Based in Washington, this international consultant role requires strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on governance, public sector reform, and macroeconomic policy.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in economics or related field.
• At least 5 years of professional experience in macroeconomics and fiscal policy issues.
• Proficiency in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare analytical and policy work on fiscal sustainability, fiscal rules, MTFFs, and macro-fiscal risks in LAC.
• Conduct macro-fiscal diagnostics and projections on revenues, expenditure efficiency, debt sustainability, and risks.
• Assess fiscal risks and contingent liabilities, including disasters and macro shocks.
• Support integration of disaster risk management and climate-related fiscal risks into planning and reporting.
• Evaluate fiscal rules and provide recommendations to strengthen institutions.
