Economics and Statistics Instructor - Temporary, Part-time Pool

Screening and interviews can be conducted at any point in time as the department desires; a part-time hiring pool or pools will be developed and be in effect for a one-year period from which temporary appointments will be made on an as‑needed basis.

Position Description

Instructor of Economics and Statistics – Temporary; Part time

Job Duties

1. Provide instruction in accordance with the Social Sciences Department’s established course outlines and the college catalog.
2. Teach in‑person Macro‑Economics classes.
3. Teach in‑person Micro‑Economics classes.
4. Teach in‑person introductory Statistics classes.
5. Take the necessary training to teach the above courses online if needed.
6. Participate in curriculum development.
7. Utilize active learning techniques and culturally responsive teaching practices that engage historically marginalized students.
8. Participate in other faculty responsibilities and duties as appropriate, such as department and campus committee work as well as professional development activities.
9. Perform professional duties including, but not limited to, testing, grading, maintaining grade‑book, maintaining student attendance records, assessing and reporting student learning outcomes (SLO’s), etc.
10. Teach day and/or evening and/or Saturday classes at any of the College’s campuses as required.
11. Support and engage in an innovative culture of culturally responsive, inclusive and anti‑racist practices as it relates to student success with an awareness of student equity gaps.
12. Participate in ongoing training on diversity, equity, inclusion and anti‑racism to center pedagogy.
13. Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

STATE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and abilities to work with community college students with disabilities, various sexual orientations, and diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.
2. Master’s degree in Economics from an accredited institution;
3. Bachelor’s degree in Economics AND Master’s in Business, Business Administration, Business Management, Business Education, Finance, or Political Science; OR THE EQUIVALENT .

ADDITIONAL CCSF MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

1. Master’s Degree or higher in Economics from an accredited institution, or equivalent.
2. Satisfactory completion of a minimum of two courses in Statistics at the graduate level, or one course in Statistics at the graduate level plus two courses in Statistics at the undergraduate level, or equivalent.
3. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.

Desirable Qualifications

1. Previous teaching experience at the community college level in Macro or Micro Economics or Introductory Statistics.
2. Previous teaching experience in college level Macro or Micro Economics or Introductory Statistics.
3. Satisfactory completion of at least one course in Statistics at the graduate level as part of the Economics major.
4. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English.
5. Familiarity with and commitment to the mission and functions of a community college.
