Overview

This position provides information, coordinates benefits, and determines initial and ongoing eligibility for applicants/recipients of multiple public assistance programs and services within the Adult Intake and Adult Eligibility Support Unit of the Department of Human Services. Provides referrals for related resources and services to collateral departments and agencies as appropriate. This is a specialized position that determines ongoing eligibility of applicants for Old Age Pension, Aid to the Needy Disabled Programs and other adult financial programs, All Medicaid Programs which include Long-Term Care (LTC) and HCBS programs, as well as Expedited Food Assistance, Food Assistance and TANF associated with the household. This position must have a working knowledge of Colorado Works Workforce Development and Employment First programs. This position performs duties that entail handling difficult cases involving income trusts cases, spousal impoverishment and community spouse allowance for nursing home residents’ cases and working with nursing and assisted living facilities, single entry point, medical providers, financial institutions, financial advisors and the legal profession.

  • Handle difficult eligibility cases involving income trusts, spousal impoverishment, and community spouse allowances for nursing home residents.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Colorado Works Workforce Development and Employment First programs.
Qualifications
  • Level I: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. One year full time, paid or unpaid experience involving extensive public contact. Substitutions: Satisfactory completion of appropriate course work obtained beyond high school may substitute for the required experience on a month for month basis.
  • Level II: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Two (2) years full time responsible office clerical or extensive public contact experience. Substitutions: Successful completion of an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business, behavioral science, or appropriately related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
  • Level III: Graduation from high school or GED equivalency. Two (2) years full time responsible office clerical or extensive public contact experience. Substitutions: Successful completion of an associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in business, behavioral science, or appropriately related field may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Proof of valid Colorado driver’s license, vehicle in safe operating condition, and liability insurance must be on file at all times.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a Division of Motor Vehicle background check (Seven years of good driving record for County Vehicle access).
  • Must take and pass CBMS training and assessment for the programs that are worked.
  • Family Violence Option training and testing is required every 5 years for the TANF program.
