Job summary

The Department of Biology at William & Mary invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Ecology. The successful candidate will develop an externally funded research program and teach courses in ecology and biostatistics, including a large introductory biostatistics class for undergraduates and master’s students. The appointment begins August 10, 2027.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biology or related field and strong quantitative research/teaching credentials.

Qualifications

Ph.D. in biology, biomathematics, biostatistics or closely related field required at start of appointment.
18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline required.
Strong research background in ecology, biomathematics, or quantitative ecology.
Evidence of teaching expertise in ecology/biostatistics or quantitative biology.
Ability to teach compelling ecology and biostatistics courses; capable of teaching other lecture/seminar courses.

Responsibilities

Establish and maintain a vibrant externally funded research program.
Conduct research, teaching, and service to the university.
Teach a large undergraduate introductory biostatistics course and ecology courses.
Offer graduate-level seminar or other advanced biostatistics coursework.
Maintain a course load of two courses per semester.
