Job summary
The Department of Biology at William & Mary invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Ecology. The successful candidate will develop an externally funded research program and teach courses in ecology and biostatistics, including a large introductory biostatistics class for undergraduates and master’s students. The appointment begins August 10, 2027.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in biology or related field and strong quantitative research/teaching credentials.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in biology, biomathematics, biostatistics or closely related field required at start of appointment.
- 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline required.
- Strong research background in ecology, biomathematics, or quantitative ecology.
- Evidence of teaching expertise in ecology/biostatistics or quantitative biology.
- Ability to teach compelling ecology and biostatistics courses; capable of teaching other lecture/seminar courses.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain a vibrant externally funded research program.
- Conduct research, teaching, and service to the university.
- Teach a large undergraduate introductory biostatistics course and ecology courses.
- Offer graduate-level seminar or other advanced biostatistics coursework.
- Maintain a course load of two courses per semester.
