Job summary

The Pizzo Group is hiring an Ecological Restoration Crew Leader to supervise field crews and lead hands-on restoration work across DuPage County, including invasive species removal, prescribed fire, and habitat enhancement projects.

This outdoors, safety‑driven role requires a degree in ecology or 3+ years of restoration experience, plus a valid Illinois Pesticide Operator License and strong plant identification and leadership skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in ecology or related field or 3+ years restoration experience
• 3+ years of ecological restoration crew leader experience
• Illinois Pesticide Operator License
• Strong plant identification and leadership skills
• Valid Driver's License with Class C or higher

Responsibilities

• Brush clearing and site preparation activities
• Herbicide application
• Installation of native plants, seed, and erosion control materials
• Stewardship activities including mowing, hand pulling of weeds, and herbicide application to control invasive species
• Application of prescribed fire
• Assist with site preparation and cleanup
