Job summary

Canyon Vista Medical Center in Sierra Vista, AZ is seeking an Echocardiology Technician to perform ECHO procedures and support high-quality patient care in a busy echocardiology lab.

Responsibilities include reviewing orders, preparing equipment, adjusting imaging parameters, and ensuring patient safety while maintaining accurate report transmission and documentation. A registered Echo tech and an associate degree are required.

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree is required.
  • Must have critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Current Echo Registry or registry eligible within one year of employment.
  • Echo certification registered or registry eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Review patient history and physician orders; educate patient on procedures and exam.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications as allowed; monitor patient condition.
  • Prepare equipment and supplies for imaging procedures.
  • Select exposure factors and imaging parameters for each study.
  • Perform safety checks and troubleshoot equipment; report malfunctions.
  • Position patient and perform imaging; analyze results and address image quality issues; report findings.
  • Enter, transmit and report scan results; perform other duties as assigned.

Canyon Vista Medical Center was founded in 1963 as Western Baptist Osteopathic Hospital on what was then the eastern edge of Sierra Vista. Growth and advancing technology dictated building our new 177,000 square foot hospital at 5700 E Hwy 90 completed in 2015.

How You'll Contribute

A Echocardiology Technician who excels in this role:

  • Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
  • When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
  • Prepares equipment and supplies.
  • Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters.
  • Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.
  • Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in scope.

What We're Looking For

Applicants should have

  • Associate's Degree required
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • BLS
  • Current Echo Registry
  • Echo certification registered or registry eligible within one year of employment or transfer into position.
  • Current license American Associate of Radiologic Technologists.
