Job summary

Luminis Health is seeking an Echocardiography Technician to perform echocardiographic examinations and report findings to support accurate diagnostic outcomes.

The role requires explaining procedures to patients, obtaining necessary data, and ensuring safety and quality standards within the medical center. Training in echocardiology with appropriate certification or experience is required, along with BLS CPR eligibility.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited Echo course; certification or 3 years of experience with specialized training in Echocardiology.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Echocardiograms as requested throughout the Medical Center, including patient rooms and emergency room.
  • Explain procedure to patients, providing instructions and direct care to ensure accuracy and patient comfort.
  • Assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the information needed to identify each patient requirement.
  • Recognize artifacts, troubleshoot minor equipment problems, and maintain equipment integrity.
  • Meet department standards for RVUs while maintaining quality work.
  • Process images from different modalities according to established policies and procedures.
  • Perform data entry related to procedures, including charges, logs, and scheduling to ensure compliance.
  • Practice radiation safety and ensure staff and students are compliant.
  • Obtain pertinent clinical data for procedures performed.
  • Analyze, process, and report outcomes in a timely manner.

Job description

Position Objective:

Performs echocardiographic procedures, using special equipment, to measure, calculate, and report pertinent patient data to facilitate accurate diagnostic outcome.

  1. Conducts Echocardiograms as requested throughout the Medical Center, including all patient rooms and emergency room.
  2. Explains procedure to patients, providing instructions and direct care to ensure accuracy and patient comfort.
  3. Assess data reflective of the patients status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient requirement.
  4. Recognizes artifacts, eliminates probable sources and troubleshoots minor equipment problems.
  5. Consistently meets department standards for RVUs while maintaining quality work.
  6. Processes images acquired from different modalities according to establish policies and procedures.
  7. Performs data entry as it relates to procedures including charges pick lists, logbook, and schedule related functions to ensure corporate compliance.
  8. Practices radiation safety and ensures that other staff, and students are compliant.
  9. Obtains pertinent clinical data adequately as it relates to procedures performed.
  10. Analyzes, processes, and reports outcomes in a timely manner.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Completion of accredited Echo course. Certification or 3 years of experience with specialized training in Echocardiology with ability to perform, measure, and preliminary interpret echocardiographic studies.
Required License/Certifications:
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS CPR certification must be obtained within 90-days from date of hire.
