Job description

The Echocardiology Technician provides patient care and performs specialized procedures related to cardiac testing for diagnosing heart disease and disorders. They operate echocardiology equipment and conduct echo cardiac examinations to monitor the movement, sound, and activity of the heart. The technician annotates patient records, maintains supplies, and liaises with biomedical engineering staff for equipment maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities:

1. Prepare patients for echocardiography testing, including attaching EKG leads and skin preparation.
2. Operate echocardiography equipment to record ultrasound data of the heart's walls, valves, and supporting structures.
3. Record test results to assist in diagnosing structural and valve abnormalities, as well as plural and pericardial effusions.
4. Develop, analyze, and document echocardiography results.
5. Conduct stress tests using approved procedures, monitor the process, and record results.
6. Prepare patient reports based on test outcomes.
7. Monitor equipment during procedures and report any issues to biomedical engineering.
8. Perform Systolic Time Interval and Apex Cardiography testing.
9. Ensure adequate supplies are available in the non-invasive laboratory.
10. Attend meetings, conferences, and seminars as required.
11. Manage inventory by scanning items in and out of the automated system.
12. Complete procedural reports using the DMS reporting system, including specific details per procedure and physician preferences.
13. Prepare sterile trays and organize equipment for procedures.
14. Communicate effectively with patients' families or representatives.
15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Clinical experience with EP/Pacemaker examinations is preferred.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology program is required.
