  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.

Do you have PRN career opportunities as an Echo Technician? We have an exciting Echo Tech PRN opening at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, part of HCA Healthcare.

Job Summary

As an Echo Technician, you will perform all assigned diagnostic ultrasound exams in a timely manner, following physician orders and collaborating with other care team members to ensure safe, accurate patient care.

Responsibilities
  • Perform direct and indirect patient care, including adult echocardiograms.
  • Provide care to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric.
  • Maintain professional standards and seek professional growth.
  • Act in accordance with the Code of Conduct and SDH Service Excellence standards.
  • Produce scans of optimal diagnostic quality.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.
  • Follow established scanning and filming protocols.
  • Operate ultrasound units efficiently and effectively.
  • Maintain knowledge of the operating parameters of the scanner.
  • Document information seen during exams in PACS or in writing.
  • Complete quality scans in a timely manner, prioritizing STAT and urgent demands.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in scanning trauma, acute and challenging patients; modify positioning when standard cannot be performed.
  • Relay relevant patient information to the cardiologist.
  • Communicate findings and disease processes to the cardiologist.
  • Prepare for patient arrest or critically ill patients.
  • Perform organizational duties related to ultrasound.
  • Operate independently, problem-solve effectively.
  • Clean exam tables and restock ultrasound supplies as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • One year of experience performing adult echocardiograms (preferred).
  • Proficiency in stress echo, TEE (preferred).
  • Proficiency in carotid ultrasound, trans- cranial Doppler studies (preferred).
  • Associate’s degree in ultrasound technology education.
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) required upon hire.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification within 30 days of employment start date.
