UTHealth Quitman Hospital is seeking a PRN Ultrasound Echo Tech in Quitman, TX to perform ultrasound procedures for all ages, aiding in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Position may be subject to overtime and callback per hospital needs.

Qualifications include high school diploma, RDMS eligibility or equivalent, and BLS within 14 days of hire, with experience and ability to operate echocardiography equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer eligible.
• Second year Allied Health Echocardiography student proctored and signed off by Echo Coordinator.
• Knowledge to operate ultrasound equipment and perform procedures.
• One year hands-on technical experience.
• BLS certification within 14 days of hire.

• Performs ultrasound procedures for all ages by utilizing imaging modalities to aid diagnosis and treatment of heart disease.

Education

High School diploma or equivalent

Allied Health Echocardiography program degree

Echo RDCS/RCS registration within six months

One year hands-on technical experience

Ability to operate ultrasound equipment

Knowledge of safety use and sterilization of equipment

BLS certification within 14 days of hire

• UT Health Quitman offers 25 private rooms, a 24-hour Level IV trauma center and Level III stroke center, surgical suites, advanced diagnostics, swing bed care, cardiopulmonary rehab, on-site physician clinics, and a sleep lab.

Responsibilities

Performs ultrasound procedures for all ages by utilizing imaging modalities in order to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. Subject to overtime and call back as required by the hospital.

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Eligible.
• Qualified second year student from an Allied Health Echocardiography program doing PRN work only and has been proctored and signed off by the Echo Coordinator.
• Knowledge and ability to operate equipment and perform ultrasound procedures.
• One year experience hands‑on technical skills.
• Knowledge and use of all diagnostic ultrasound equipment.
• Ability to use equipment without direct supervision.
• Independent use of clinical knowledge and experience.
• Knowledge of safety use, handling and storage of advanced sterilization products.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Echo registered in RDCS or RCS within six (6) months of hire date.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Allied Health degree in performing Echocardiography studies.
