Job summary

Pine Island Public Schools seeks a Part-Time ECFE Parent Educator to strengthen families and the community by delivering parent education and resources. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate adult education for caregivers and close collaboration with the Early Learning Center staff.

Responsibilities include planning curricula, conducting home visits, coordinating events, and engaging families with welcoming, evidence-based practices. Part-time, on-site position with district support.

Qualifications

• Requires a B.S. or B.A. with valid MN teaching license in parent education.
• Knowledge of parent education and skills in effective facilitation of adult education.
• Ability to work effectively with children and parents

Responsibilities

• Understand, advocate for and promote the ECFE program philosophy and mission statement.
• Plan and implement the parent education portion of ECFE with the early childhood teacher using MN indicators and curriculum.
• Develop, adapt and implement sensitive, responsive parent education curricula in a safe, welcoming environment.
• Promote understanding of current research and best practice within early childhood and parent/family life education.
• Serve as a model and resource for parents when interacting with young children.
• Coordinate ECFE events in partnership with other early childhood teachers.
• Perform home visits as assigned and collaborate with supervisor and home visiting team.
• Use a team approach to outreach and dissemination of information and services to families and community partners.

Compensation:
Pay range for this position: Based on Master Teacher Agreement according to Education level. Part-Time, various hours.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
The Parent Educator strengthens children, families, and the community by providing education, resources, and support that increase parents' knowledge of child development, build parenting skills and confidence, foster positive parent-child relationships, and connect families with school and community resources.

Job Duties:

• Use MN's Early Childhood Indicators of Progress and MN's Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework as a guide, plan and implement the parent education portion of ECFE with the early childhood teacher.
• Develop, adapt and implement sensitive, responsive parent education curricula in a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment.
• Promote understanding of current research and best practice within the field of early childhood and parent/family life education.
• Serve as a model and resource for parents when interacting with young children.
• Partner with other early childhood teachers to coordinate on ECFE special events.
• Perform home visits as assigned. Collaborate with supervisor, home visiting team and other service providers.
• Using the team approach, be responsible for outreach and dissemination of information and services to parents, community members and organizations.
• Maintain appropriate site records as required (attendance, demographics).
• Partner with early childhood teachers in selecting and ordering materials.
• Uses technology to enhance instruction and incorporates different learning methodologies for all learning styles.
• Assists in marketing and outreach to families in the community.
