Job summary

GE Vernova in Rochester, NY is seeking a PCB Design Engineer to own the technical integrity of its hardware design ecosystem. You will define and enforce Altium component libraries, footprints, and templates while leading PCB design for industrial-grade products.

The role requires multi‑layer layout expertise, ECAD data management, and collaboration with global teams to harmonize standards, optimize manufacturing trade-offs, and document designs and ECOs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 3 years of dedicated professional experience in complex, multi‑layer PCB Layout and Altium Designer usage.
• Minimum 2 years of experience managing or maintaining centralized ECAD library (schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and component databases).
• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in electronic hardware design.

Responsibilities

• ECAD Governance: Lead the convergence and standardization of global Altium ECAD databases.
• PCB Layout Execution: Own the end-to-end PCB design process, including multi-layer stackup design, impedance control, high-speed routing, and thermal/mechanical integration.
• Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Develop and enforce DFM guidelines with Manufacturing Teams.
• Infrastructure Ownership: Maintain and optimize Altium design rules, Outjobs, and template systems.
• Technical Collaboration: Collaborate with Hardware Engineers to interpret schematics into high-reliability hardware.
• Technical Liaison: Primary contact between Hardware Engineers and PCB manufacturers; resolve EQs.
• Lifecycle & Sustaining: Manage ECOs; mitigate component obsolescence with alternatives and layout mods.
• Documentation: Maintain BOMs, fabrication docs, and design specifications for RF/analog/digital circuitry.
