Job summary

Davidson County Schools in Lexington, NC seeks an EC Teacher Assistant for a 40-hour work week on a temporary basis starting 09/21/2026. The role supports classroom staff by assisting with IEP implementation, student supervision, and daily care needs, including feeding and basic medical procedures as needed.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma and some related experience or training, and can operate standard teaching aids and school technology.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of basic needs and developmental stages of children.
• Knowledge of typical behavioral patterns and crisis intervention.
• Ability to follow oral and written instruction.
• Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group settings.
• Ability to write simple correspondence.
• Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
• Ability to operate media and technology equipment.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate instructional efforts with the classroom teacher.
• Assist with implementation of I.E.P. and maintain data therein.
• Support in principal's office, classrooms, media center, and labs.
• Plan, prepare, and develop teaching aids.
• Supervise groups in cafeteria, library, and playground.
• Present subject matter using multiple methods as directed.
• Operate learning aids and technology including computers.
• Assist students individually or in groups with assignments.
