Job summary

Wilkes County Schools is seeking an Exceptional Children’s Teacher for EWHS 50% & EWMS 50% responsibilities in North Wilkesboro area. The role involves developing and implementing IEP-guided instruction, coordinating services, and maintaining student records per NC guidelines.

Starting immediately, the teacher will collaborate with school teams, supervise instruction with a focus on inclusive practices, and maintain ongoing communication with families and caregivers to support student progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in special education with at least one disability area.
• Licensed in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Develops and implements an instructional plan aligned to IEP goals.
• Develops IEPs for students with disabilities and updates them as needed.
• Provides direct special education instruction to identified students.
• Uses various teaching methods and adapts materials to meet student needs.
• Monitors behavior, maintains discipline, and teaches behavioral strategies.
• Communicates with parents about student progress.
• Acts as case coordinator for assigned students and coordinates with caregivers.
