Job summary

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools seeks an Exceptional Children (EC) Teacher Assistant to support the assigned teacher and EC students under general supervision. You will guide children toward IEP goals and help provide access to general education as needed, following Board of Education policies.

Responsibilities include assisting in classrooms, supervising students, preparing materials, documenting progress toward IEP goals, and participating in professional development to support inclusive

Qualifications

• One of the listed education requirements must be met.
• Work with EC students and families as needed.
• Pass WorkKeys assessment or equivalent.
• Completion of the NC Teacher Assistant Apprenticeship program preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist students individually or in small groups to master assignments and reinforce learning concepts.
• Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums.
• Prepare lesson materials and bulletin board displays for assigned classroom.
• Document progress toward IEP goals and assist with data collection.
• Assist with attendance procedures, record keeping, and classroom organization.
• Participate in professional development and other meetings.
