Job summary

MK Consulting Group in the Charlotte region seeks a Structural Steel Field Superintendent to lead on-site erection, manage crews, and enforce safety rules.

You will oversee daily installation, crane and rigging logistics, and ensure quality control in alignment with engineering drawings and project specs. Travel regionally along the East Coast is required.

Experience: 5+ years in structural steel erection with supervisory duties; OSHA 30 training and rigging/welding oversight knowledge preferred.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in structural steel erection or heavy industrial construction; prior supervisory experience.
• Read complex structural blueprints, erection plans, and crane lift plans.
• OSHA 30-hour safety training and valid rigging/welding oversight knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Direct structural steel assembly, rigging, fit-up, bolting, welding, and field modifications.
• Enforce OSHA compliance, conduct safety meetings, and inspect heavy equipment like cranes.
• Track look-ahead schedules and sequence column, beam, and joist deliveries with project managers.
• Verify that welding and structural installations match engineering drawings and project specifications.
• Manage ironworkers, field welders, and sub-trade labor performance.
