Job summary

The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Field Technician – Earthmoving at Thompson Tractor is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics on earthmoving heavy equipment in field settings, with a strong emphasis on safety and adherence to company protocols.

The role requires mechanical aptitude, ability to work independently, and participation in a training program with on-the-job and classroom instruction; day-to-day work includes preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and on-site

Qualifications

• High school diploma or the equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year in mechanical repairs or relevant experience.
• Experience using PCs and basic typing skills.
• Med Card and CDL preferred; MVR required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on heavy equipment in the field; ensure safety and reliability.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; disassemble and reassemble as needed.
• Use diagnostic tools and manuals to identify issues and implement effective repair solutions.
• Record maintenance activities and complete service reports, work orders, and documentation promptly.
• Travel to job sites for on-site repairs and communicate with customers and team members.
