Job summary

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the United States seeks a geophysics-focused researcher to study geosphere interactions with human activity. You will apply data analysis, modeling, and machine learning to subsurface systems and reservoir behavior, contributing to energy and environmental science programs.

You will work across disciplines, collaborate with industry partners, and support rigorous data quality and reporting while leveraging tools like MATLAB and Python in a dynamic lab

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: BS/BA and 2 years of relevant geophysics experience -OR- MS/MA -OR- PhD.
• Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in geology, geophysics, modeling and data analysis or related field.
• Experience in oil, gas, geothermal reservoir management, geologic carbon storage, or contaminant fate and transport.
• Strong data quality mindset, communication skills, and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Programming and analysis tools: FORTRAN, C++, Python, MATLAB, TecPlot.

Responsibilities

• Study the geosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere, and their interactions with human activities using scientific principles and data.
• Modeling and data analysis in subsurface reservoirs, flow through porous media, and fracture networks.
• Collaborate across knowledge domains and engage with industry stakeholders.
