Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) seeks an Earth Science Software Engineer to support cloud infrastructure, data pipelines, and web applications for NASA's SPoRT and Disasters teams at Marshall Space Flight Center.

You will bridge science and operations, designing, automating, and maintaining data processing systems that move satellite data to real-time decision-makers, with IaC and Python/GIS automation to ensure resilience and scalability.

Qualifications

• Degree in Earth Science, Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, CS, Software Engineering, Information Systems or remote sensing from an ABET-accredited university.
• 10+ years' experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• 8+ years' experience with a Master's degree.

Responsibilities

• Design and automate Python-based data pipelines for real-time satellite feeds and geospatial data.
• Automate GIS-based data dissemination protocols and STAC integration with Earthdata GIS.
• Containerize and deploy research code into cloud-native production architectures.
• Develop real-time visualization tools and web dashboards for weather products.
• Collaborate with NASA scientists and external end-users to align software needs.
