Job summary

Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) seeks innovative scientists and engineers to advance research and technology for environmental stewardship and ecological resilience. The role spans modeling, field studies, and laboratory work supporting DOE missions at SRNL in Aiken, SC, with emphasis on data-driven environmental analyses and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in a relevant scientific or engineering field.
• Capability to conduct scientific research, environmental analysis, or field/lab work.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
• Ability to work within multidisciplinary teams and maintain safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, field investigations, or modeling on earth systems and ecological processes.
• Develop or validate models and data-driven tools for environmental characterization.
• Perform bench-scale experiments in microbiology, geochemistry, ecology, or related fields.
• Analyze and integrate environmental data to support DOE missions.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal and external sponsors.
• Collaborate across engineering, biological sciences, geosciences, and analytics.
• Contribute to technologies improving environmental monitoring and remediation strategies.
• Ensure work complies with SRNL safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
• Assist with proposal writing, project planning, and sponsor engagement.
• Stay informed on emerging scientific advances and trends.
