Job summary

MaineHealth Accountable Care Organization is launching a Certified Nursing Assistant Apprenticeship Program. The paid training runs six weeks with 4–5 days a week, followed by the LEAP program and on-site clinicals at a MaineHealth facility. A one-year work commitment and 24 hours per week are required after graduation.

Applicants must meet CASAS reading requirements and be accepted into an approved CNA program. Roles begin after graduation with placement at a MaineHealth location.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• License/Certifications: Must be accepted into an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• Experience: N/A
• Additional Skills/Requirements: Completion of CASAS ABE with a score of 239+ OR two college semesters in English with B- or higher OR at least an associate's degree.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision, Apprentice - Certified Nursing Assistant provides direct care to assigned residents/patients.
• Post graduation you will be directly placed into a position to work a one-year commitment at a MaineHealth facility with a minimum of 24 hours per week.

· Attendance at an information session is required.

Thursday, August 20 | 10-11 a.m.

Thursday, September 3 | 6-7 p.m.

Thursday, September 17 | 10-11 a.m.

Thursday, October 1 | 6-7 p.m.

· At the information session, you will have a chance to register for consideration into the program.

· A representative will reach out to you to schedule a time to take the CASAS exam, which must be passed at the 9 th grade reading level.

· Once you have passed the CASAS exam, you will be eligible to apply & interview for the position at your closest location.

· Program is 4-5 days a week for 6 weeks. Lecture, hands-on skills lab and on-site clinical training at the local hospital and/or nursing home. Followed by a two-week mandatory LEAP program.

Weeks 1-3: 32 hours per week

Weeks 4-5: 40 hours per week

Week 6: 32 hours per week

Weeks 7-8 (LEAP): 24-36 hours per week

Post graduation you will be directly placed into a position to work a one-year commitment at one of our MaineHealth facilities. You will be working a minimum of 24-hours per week. You must be willing to work day, evening, night, and weekend shifts based on open positions at MaineHealth.

Summary:

Under the supervision and direction of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program Instructor and/or Clinical Supervisor, Certified Nursing Assistant Preceptors, and/or long-term care facility’s Charge Nurses, the Apprentice - Certified Nursing Assistant role provides direct care to assigned residents/patients.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred.
• License/Certifications: Must be accepted into an approved Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• Experience: N/A
• Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Completion of the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS ABE) with a score of 239 higher, OR completed two semesters of college level English with aB- or higher OR a minimum of an associate's degree

The pay range for this position is $18.00 AN HOUR

Compensation for part-time positions isdeterminedon a prorated basis consistent with the scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
