Job description

The City of Inver Grove Heights is seeking seasonal staff to assist with early voting activities during the 2026 general election.All staff must be versatile enough to work in a fast-paced environment and serve a variety of functions including: efficient and accurate processing of early voting ballot requests, provide customer service to absentee voters by phone and in-person, and provide election information to the general public.

This position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to understand election laws, rules, and procedures; ability to learn and utilize automated systems including the Statewide Voter Registration System; strong computer skills; strong customer service skills.

Assist with various early voting activities: customer service, assist in-person voters, fulfill absentee ballot requests, provide election information to the public, an assist with test decks and election preparation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions; ability to communicate clearly and effectively; excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook; ability to work in a fast-paced environment; ability to learn and utilize automated systems including the Statewide Voter Registration System; understanding and application of databases; simple math skills; comfortable working with and serving a diverse population of voters; ability to manage time effectively; physical and emotional stamina; ability to attend election training.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Previous experience processing absentee ballots; previous experience working within the Statewide Voter Registration System; strong knowledge and understanding of current election laws, rules, and procedures; previous experience as an election judge.

SCHEDULE: October 16 through November 2, 2026

During the cycle, daily hours may vary, however staff are needed to work weekdays and weekends. Staff should anticipate working full days when scheduled.
