Job summary

Stratford School in California seeks an Early Preschool Teacher to create a safe, warm, and inspiring space for children aged 2 to 3. Working with a partner teacher, you will manage daily classroom activities, build strong connections with every child, and meet their individual needs with good judgment and care.

Using our curriculum as a guide, you’ll design balanced lesson plans that blend learning with open play.

Qualifications

• 12 completed ECE semester units (or 18 quarter units) including coursework in Child Growth and Development
• Child, Family, and Community coursework or a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive development of social and emotional competencies
• Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating with co-teachers and school staff
• Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care
• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations and licensing guidelines
• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned

About the Role

Step into the classroom as an Early Preschool Teacher to create a safe, warm, and inspiring space for children ages 2 to 3. Alongside your partner teacher, you will manage daily classroom activities, build strong connections with every child, and ensure their individual needs are met with good judgment and care. Using our provided curriculum as a guide, you'll design balanced lesson plans that mix intentional learning activities with purposeful, open play.

You will also

• Create a nurturing, responsive environment that promotes positive development of social and emotional competencies
• Communicate daily with parents and guardians while collaborating closely with co-teachers and school staff
• Assist children during meals, snacks, rest periods, and routine personal care (including toileting and diaper changing as needed)
• Keep the classroom clean, organized, and compliant with all safety regulations and licensing guidelines
• Perform other related classroom duties and school support tasks as assigned

What We Are Looking For

• 12 completed ECE semester units (or 18 quarter units), including coursework in:
• Child Growth and Development
• Child, Family, and Community
• Program/Curriculum
• OR a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development
• Patience, compassion, and a genuine love for working with young children.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior teaching experience with preschool students is preferred
