Job summary

Federal Express Corporation in Pittsburgh is seeking a Switcher/Package Handler to move trailers between the yard and doors and assist with loading and unloading packages as needed. The role requires attention to safety, coordination with control, and accurate documentation.

Preload is Tue-Sat 3am-9am at the Pittsburgh location. No prior experience required, though up to six months in a package handler or switching role is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid driver’s license and maintain a DOT file.
• Ability to understand and follow safety methods and work duties.
• Ability to discern numbers and information to sort packages.
• Experience with yard switching or CDL preferred.

Responsibilities

• Moves trailers between yard and doors via switching.
• Communicates trailer movements with management/central control.
• Documents trailer moves using Yard Management System or switcher cards.
• Performs pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
• Loads and unloads packages onto/from vehicles, trailers and conveyors.
• Sorts packages by scanning labels and memorizing information.
