The City of Cambridge is seeking an Early Literacy and Numeracy Coordinator to lead development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of family literacy and numeracy programs within the CEFS division and with community partners. The role emphasizes developmentally appropriate practices and inclusive outreach to families with young children.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education, child development, social work, human services, psychology or library sciences with a concentration on early development or related field is preferred.
• Five or more years of experience working with diverse families and young children in early literacy, early childhood education, family engagement, or related setting is required.
• Experience using strength-based, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches when working with families and supporting parents and caregivers is preferred.
• Experience developing, implementing, or facilitating early childhood programming, family literacy and numeracy activities, parent education, or related areas is preferred.
• Training or professional development in early childhood development, early literacy and numeracy, family engagement, parent education, or related areas is preferred.
• Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, community-based organizations, and early childhood partners to coordinate programming is preferred.
• Multilingual skills are preferred; proficiency in Spanish, Amharic, Bangla, Portuguese, Haitian Creole, or Arabic is an asset.
• At least three years of staff supervision experience required.

Responsabilidades

• Lead the design and delivery of best-practice family literacy and numeracy initiatives with city stakeholders.
• Coordinate administrative supports with the Office of Early Childhood to align family literacy practices.
• Offer parent education programming supporting parents' understanding of family literacy.
• Oversee Cambridge Book Bike program in collaboration with partners such as Cambridge Public Library and Cambridge Public Health Department.
• Coordinate Family Literacy Month events and city-wide Family Literacy Fun Day.
• Develop and monitor program budgets and supervise four part-time staff.
• Promote staff development and engagement aligned with best practices in adult learning and family engagement.
• Ensure services are accessible to diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
