Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forty-eight (48) hours from an accredited college or university.
• Paraprofessional certificate (SBEC) required or eligible.
• Must obtain a national criminal background check within 30 days of hire.
• Able to communicate, listen, read, write and understand English effectively.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce skills and units of instruction for at‑risk students in 1:1, small groups or whole class.
• Assist with preparation of extension lessons (cooking, music, poetry enrichment).
• Assist students with integrating technology and educational media.
• Assist support teachers, technology teacher and librarian during scheduled times.
• Help administer and score objective tests and assignments.
• Assist with selecting and organizing instructional materials; help prepare displays.
• Use discipline strategies to foster social skills throughout the day.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Attendance at the work site is required.
• Create and participate in a virtual classroom environment as assigned.
• Be available by phone/email/video during school hours to confer with district stakeholders.
