Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with each student's IEP goals, focusing on early literacy, mathematics, communication, social-emotional development, adaptive skills, and school readiness.
• Create a structured, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, independence, positive behavior, and success in the early elementary setting.
• Communicate effectively and collaboratively with students, families, staff, administration, and outside agencies to support student growth and achievement.
• Schedule, develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with IDEA, state regulations, and district requirements.
• Develop and coordinate re-evaluation plans, collect and analyze assessment data, collaborate with school psychologists and related service providers, and facilitate evaluation and re-evaluation IEP meetings.
• Assist with the referral, evaluation, and eligibility determination process for students being considered for special education services.
• Utilize assessment data and ongoing progress monitoring to guide instruction, measure student growth, and adjust interventions to meet individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and support staff to implement accommodations, modifications, specially designed instruction, and inclusive practices.
• Provide guidance, training, and direction to assigned paraprofessionals to ensure effective instructional and behavioral support for students.
• Implement evidence-based instructional practices and positive behavior interventions to support students' academic, social, emotional, communication, and behavioral development. Knowledge of PBIS, restorative practices, and de-escalation strategies preferred.
• Foster the development of communication, self-regulation, social interaction, play skills, and independence through developmentally appropriate instruction and interventions.
• Partner with families to support student learning, encourage family engagement, and promote consistency between home and school.
• Collaborate with preschool and early childhood staff, when appropriate, to support smooth transitions into kindergarten and early elementary programs.
• Demonstrate flexibility throughout the school day to meet the diverse academic, behavioral, social, emotional, and developmental needs of young learners.
• Maintain accurate and timely special education records, progress reports, service logs, and other documentation required by state and federal regulations.
• Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, school improvement initiatives, and district activities to support continuous improvement.
• Serve as a positive representative of the district while fostering strong relationships with students, families, colleagues, and community partners.
