Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools is seeking an assistant in the Early Learning program to support instruction, screenings, and family engagement. The role focuses on promoting growth in physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains, under the supervision of the classroom associate instructor.

Responsibilities include preparing materials, maintaining a safe environment, coordinating with families, and assisting with daily routines and health-promoting activities.

Qualifications

• Be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
• 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education credential required.
• First Aid and CPR certifications and Food Handler’s permit required within 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assists with and delivers individual and group instruction and tracks progress.
• Helps plan curriculum and arrange learning materials for activities.
• Supports child screenings and enters data into assessment systems.
• Models and monitors behavior and supervises transitions between classes.
• Prepares daily routines and promotes healthy habits for students.
