Job summary

Tacoma Public Schools seeks a Paraeducator Assistant in the Early Learning program to support children's development and learning. The role starts September 28, 2026 and is 0.9375 FTE with 7.5 hours per day across 182 work days per year.

The assistant supports instruction, curriculum planning, screenings, family engagement, and safe classroom operations under the supervision of the Early Learning classroom associate instructor.

Qualifications

• Be at least eighteen years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; 12 college quarter credits in early childhood education credential.
• One of the following: one year certificate in ECE; or an AA in ECE or be enrolled in a program leading to an AA or a BA; or a CDA credential or CDA program; with one year post-secondary experience in a preschool or child care setting.

Responsibilities

• Assist with and deliver individual and group instruction to promote intellectual growth.
• Plan curriculum and daily activities to meet program objectives.
• Assist with child screenings and assessments and input data into the assessment system.
• Model and monitor behavior; supervise students in transitions.
• Assist with safe entry/exit procedures and daily routines.
• Prepare daily classroom routines and meals as needed; track menu changes.
• Promote parent involvement and communicate with families; support education services.
