Job summary

The YMCA of Memphis & The Mid-South is hiring an Early Learning Center Assistant Teacher in Hernando, MS. You will support supervision of a small group of children and help implement age-appropriate activities in a caring, safe classroom environment.

Responsibilities include assisting lead teachers, maintaining rosters, following daily schedules, serving meals, and communicating with parents and staff. Requires 18+ years, a HS diploma or equivalent, and current first-aid and infant/child CPR

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• One or more years of experience with children ages five years and younger.
• Current state approved first-aid certification.
• Current state approved infant/child CPR certification.
• TB test or negative TB statement.
• Completion of minimum STARS required training.
• Knowledge of diverse populations and DHS licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist classroom teachers and lead teachers with activities.
• Provide nurturing care to all children in the classroom.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate classroom activities.
• Maintains rosters and assists with sign-in/out.
• Ensure the daily schedule is followed and meals are served.
• Complete daily parent reports and communication tools.
• Maintain stimulating and orderly program spaces.
• Complies with risk management standards for safety.
• Communicate with parents and team about child experiences.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in events.
