Job summary

Old Colony YMCA in Middleboro, MA seeks an Assistant Teacher for our Early Learning Center. You will support Lead Teachers in caring for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers, promoting the YMCA's values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. The role requires patience, reliability, and teamwork, with hours Monday–Friday 6:45 AM–5:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Experience with infants, toddlers, or preschool-aged children.
• EEC Assistant Teacher qualifications or certification preferred, but not required.
• Understanding of child development and willingness to learn.
• Must be patient, dependable, enthusiastic, and a team player.
• Must meet all applicable EEC background check, training, and health and safety requirements.
• Must be flexible with scheduling. Our operating hours are Monday-Friday 6:45 AM-5:30 PM.

Responsibilities

• Assist Lead Teachers with daily classroom activities, routines, and age-appropriate curriculum.
• Provide a safe, positive, and welcoming environment for all children.
• Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development through play and hands-on learning.
• Assist with feeding, diapering, toileting, and other daily care needs.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom while following Massachusetts EEC regulations and YMCA policies.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
• Work collaboratively with classroom staff and assist in other classrooms as needed.

The actual pay rate will depend on the person's qualifications and experience. $15.50 - $17.82 / hour
